2022 Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics

Our annual Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics entitled “Delirium Care: Tackling Real World Challenges in Detection, Treatment and Prevention” was presented by Dr. Alasdair MacLullich MBChB, MRCP(UK), PhD. Dr. MacLullich is a professor of geriatric medicine at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests are the clinical and neuropsychological assessment of delirium, delirium treatment, and the pathophysiology of delirium.

Our 10th annual Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics entitled “COVID-19 and Ontario’s Long-Term Care Homes” was presented by Dr. Nathan Stall MD, FRCPC. Dr. Stall is a Geriatrician at Mount Sinai Hospital, PhD Candidate, at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and Assistant Scientific Director, Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table.

2020 Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics

Our annual Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics entitled “Patient Priorities Care: Medical Decision Making for Patients with Multiple Chronic Conditions” was presented by Dr. Caroline Blaum, MD. Dr. Blaum is the director of geriatric medicine and palliative care at the NYU School of Medicine. Her current research interests involve Patient Priorities Care, a new approach to care for adults with multiple chronic conditions that aligns all care with patient’s healthy outcome goals and care preferences.

2019 Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics

Our annual Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics entitled “A Surprise Behind Every Door: Research and Reflections on Making Healthcare Safer for Older Adults Coming Home from the Hospital” was presented by Dr. Alicia Arbaje, MD, MPH, PhD. Dr. Arbaje is an internist, geriatric medicine specialist, and health services researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on identifying patient populations at risk of experiencing suboptimal care transitions, identifying care processes and hospital characteristics related to readmissions, and developing clinical interventions to improve care transitions and reduce hospital readmissions.

2018 Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics

Our annual Ben and Hilda Katz Sinai Health/UHN Lecture in Geriatrics entitled “Overview of the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP): Delirium Prevention and Beyond” was presented by Dr. Sharon Inouye, MD, MPH. Dr. Inouye is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in the division of gerontology. Her research focuses on prevention of delirium and cognitive decline with aging, promoting healthy aging and independence follow acute illness, and improvement of healthcare systems through policy.
