What are you afraid of? The reality of living with anxiety for older adults

The Wellness Centre serves Chinese speaking older adults 65 years and older in Scarborough, a Greater Toronto Area community with a large Chinese speaking community.

The Future of Care is Virtual

Long before the COVID-19 pandemic descended upon us in March 2020, Sinai Geriatrics’ Telemedicine Program for Homebound Elders was providing virtual access to specialist care for frail, homebound adults over the age of 65 in Toronto. Individuals in this vulnerable population often have serious, complex health issues and have difficulty accessing specialist care.

Almost 100 per cent of Older Canadians Surveyed Plan to Live Independently in their Own Homes, But Is This Even Possible?

Independence is key for older adults. Indeed, a recent National Institute of Ageing (NIA)/TELUS Health Survey found that 91 per cent of Canadians of all ages, and almost 100 per cent of Canadians 65 years of age and older, report that they plan on supporting themselves to live safely and independently in their own home as long as possible.

Sinai Health’s 2020 Savlov/Schmidt Summer Scholars in Geriatrics Broke New Ground Virtually This Summer!

The SHS/UHN Savlov/Schmidt Summer Scholars Program in Geriatrics looked different this year. Instead of shadowing physicians, geriatricians, nurses and other allied health professionals in both hospital and community-based clinical settings, for the first time the program needed to be free of clinical encounters and conducted entirely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
