Sinai Health/UHN Geriatrics Summer Scholars Program
The Sinai Health/University Health Network Geriatrics Summer Scholars Program is a 12-week summer scholarship that helps foster a greater interest in careers in geriatrics for aspiring clinicians, researchers and others interested in working with older adults in the future. It provides a unique and structured learning opportunity for students to gain valuable research or project experience in a healthcare setting and encourages students to consider a future career in the fields of ageing and geriatrics.
This program specifically offers opportunities for Sinai Health and University Health Network staff to provide research or project experiences and mentorship for students from a variety of disciplines in an effective and organized manner. The program also aims to meet the needs of interested students who are eager to gain valuable research experience as well.
Scholars will be matched with clinical mentors, whom they will assist with on their research projects. Scholars are also given the opportunity to gain exposure to geriatrics care by shadowing clinicians on the inpatient geriatrics consultation service as well as shadowing a geriatrician in outpatient and community clinical settings. They will also be given educational opportunities to further their knowledge of geriatrics throughout the summer. Scholars will be expected to prepare and present their work to the staff members of our program at the end of the scholarship.
This is not a volunteer position. Scholars get paid for their summer research experience.
